Intercropping of Dwarf Yard Long Bean with Maize under Different Planting System

The field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Field, BARI, Gazipur during kharif-1 season of 2020 and 2021 to find out suitable combination maize dwarf yard long bean intercropping for higher productivity monetary advantage. Treatments included in the were: T1= Maize normal row (MNR) +1 (DYLB), T2= paired (MPR) + 2 rows DYLB, T3= MPR +3 T4= 4 T5= Sole (60 cm x 20 cm) T6= DYLB (40 25 cm). Light availability on decreased with increase shade produced by canopy over time up 105 DAS. lowest light observed T1 treatment highest sole (T6). maximum grain yield 1-4 % among intercrop treatments. equivalent (13.75 t ha-1), gross return (Tk. 247500 margin 139000 ha-1) benefit cost ratio (2.28) were inT3 followed T1. land (1.56) also found same treatment. results revealed that 3 hybrid (60cm 20cm) 1 might be agronomically feasible economically profitable system Joydebpur.
